What
style do you teach?
We offer a
martial arts program that has been carefully designed as a street-smart, age-specific mixed martial
arts system and character education program stemming from our base in world renowned Ed Parker’s American Kenpo
Karate, and incorporating the best methods and strategies from Boxing, Muay Thai Kickboxing, (Gracie)
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Israeli Combatives, Judo, Jun Fan Gung Fu/Jeet Kune Do Concepts and the Filipino Martial Arts.
Each of these martial arts is integrated into a comprehensive self-defense system designed to instill
a champion’s mindset and confidence in virtually any self-defense situation.
In addition,
we offer complete and separate courses in Muay Thai Kickboxing and Gracie Jiu-Jitsu strictly for adults. The goal is to allow
the student to gain as many learning experiences as possible and ultimately develop his/her own style. Click here to find
out more about our Adult Course Offerings.
Can
anyone learn your methods?
Contrary to many systems that work against
your body, much of our training relies on natural or instinctual everyday movements. Magnan Martial Arts is committed to being like a custom tailor who fits the art to
your physical make-up. By proportionally fitting the art to your body, you will learn to dominate your own body and the three
dimensional space it occupies.
Whether you are a novice to the martial
arts or have formal training, anyone can benefit from the safe and effective teaching methods of Magnan Martial Arts.
Is
this school right for me?
With incidents of violent crime around
the world at all time highs and an ever-changing landscape of personal safety and security concerns, personal protection training
is the primary emphasis of our school. While some schools tend to over-emphasize values learned through
the martial arts as their main goal, often abandoning effective personal safety training, Magnan Martial Arts views these qualities as important by-products of self-defense
training and believes that striking a healthy balance between the two is paramount.
Staying true to the integrity of combative
martial arts, we also offer an avenue to test your skills in the competitive arena. As believers in functional, reality-based
methods of training, we place great value in what we call “flight time.” This, in turn, will help your ability
to survive a violent attack. In essence, one complements the other.
Whether your primary interest is in self-defense
or eventually testing your skills in competition, Magnan Martial Arts will provide you with a cleanly, safe, family-friendly, and professional environment in which to pursue
your goals.
Why
should I study self-defense?
Other than for obvious reasons, self-defense
is more than knowing how to fight back against a physical attack. Participation in self-defense classes encourages you to
think in terms of options and choices, develops your awareness and assertiveness skills, and provides practice for physical
self-defense techniques. A good self-defense class will expand the way you think about violence prevention, help you deal
with your fears and enable you to feel more empowered in your life. Self-defense training should not be viewed as a luxury,
but a necessity. Just as you invest in insurance, you should be concerned with self-assurance.
